Artist's Comments

I'm not sure if anyone can use this or not. I took it on Feb 7, the date of the last space shuttle. I have a friend with security clearance, but they still won't allow you close enough to really get a fantastic shot. This might though help you as a reference or as part of a background, and will show you what it really looks like when it takes off. Quite an amazing site.

No need to note me for stock use.

But do follow the :bulletgreen: STOCK RULES :bulletgreen:

Always remember you're unique, just like everyone else.

it's quite a site. The night shots where they send up satellites are very, very impressive. The entire sky lights up .. as though it were daytime .. and you can see it for much, much longer than one of the shuttle daylight liftoffs. I literally stood in the river to get this view point, which is ok if I watch out for stingrays and other varmits! bwhahahaha

Where were you when this shot was taken. It looks to be from Titusville or the NASA causeway?
:iconcalvin911:
My biggest dream, beside actually going into space, is to see that, and work at VAB.

Great shot.

I'm guessing it must be loud, but you were far away too.

On the Apollo 4 [I think, it was one of the early ones] NASA hadn't built muffelers on the rockets to make them quiet, and during the launch the sound waves actually tore off the roof of a news platform. I read it in Guiness Book of World Records 2000.
